Men and Women Dealing with Computers

Computers are part of everyone’s life now days. Computer science is based largely on mathematics, which relies on spatial ability and as a result, it is a male domain. Some computer science areas, however, such as programming or user-interface design, need more understanding of human psychology than mathematics and these are the areas which have the highest number of women.

It has been noticed that a steady decline in the number of women entering the information technology workplace and cites the reason as a lack of interest from women in this subject/profession. Women are twice as likely as men to use computers in the workplace.

Most of the women saw the computer simply to an end or as a tool to offer creative freedom, where the less number of men have the same view.

Most of the men saw technology or playing with the programs and accessories as more important in computing where the less number of women has the same view.
